What LinkedIn says

Do hashtags still work on LinkedIn?

  1. 01

    They're still links

In a post, each hashtag opens LinkedIn's page for it: linkedin.com/feed/hashtag/ followed by the tag in lowercase. We checked on public posts on 4 November 2026.

  2. 02

LinkedIn no longer documents them for members

LinkedIn's Help article on using and following hashtags now returns “page not found” (checked 4 November 2026), and LinkedIn doesn't say how hashtags affect who sees a post.

  3. 03

    Company Pages still use them

On a Life or What We Do Page, admins can pick up to 3 hashtags for Trending Employee Content, and LinkedIn notes that capitalization doesn't matter.

So treat hashtags as labels: a few specific ones that say what the post is about, never instead of the words in it. The source for Pages is LinkedIn Help on Trending Employee Content hashtags, read on 4 November 2026.

How many

How many hashtags on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn sets no number for posts. Most guides suggest 3 to 5; past that, a post's last lines read like a list of keywords.

Hashtags count toward a post's 3,000 characters, like every other character. The other limits are in LinkedIn character limits, and the LinkedIn text formatter counts as you write.

How to write one

How to write a LinkedIn hashtag.

  • A hashtag is one word: join the words, with no spaces.

    #ContentMarketing, not #content marketing

  • Stick to letters and numbers. Leave out hyphens, apostrophes and emoji.

    #Ecommerce, #WomensHealth

  • Capitalize each word. It's easier to read, also for screen readers, and it's still the same hashtag.

    #SalesEnablement, not #salesenablement

  • Pick specific hashtags that say what the post is about.

    #SalesEnablement says more than #Business

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Do hashtags still work on LinkedIn?
They still work as links: each opens LinkedIn's page of posts with that hashtag. But LinkedIn no longer documents hashtags for members and doesn't say they help a post reach more people. Use a few as labels, not as a reach trick.
How many hashtags should I use on LinkedIn?
LinkedIn sets no number for posts. Most guides suggest 3 to 5. Hashtags count toward a post's 3,000 characters.
Can you still follow hashtags on LinkedIn?
LinkedIn no longer documents it: its Help article on using and following hashtags returns “page not found” (checked 4 November 2026). Hashtags in posts still lead to a page of posts with that hashtag.
Does capitalization matter in LinkedIn hashtags?
No. LinkedIn's Help Center says #XYZ is the same as #xyz, and a hashtag's page address is in lowercase. Capitals only make it easier to read.
Is what I type sent anywhere?
No. Both tools run in your browser, and nothing you type is sent to Lempile or anywhere else.
