Fill in your job title and one or two more fields, and headlines appear here.

Reading headlines in your product? Lempile's API reads a profile's headline, experience and skills through your users' own LinkedIn accounts.

What goes in a headline

Four parts, in the order people read them.

  1. 01

    Your role

The words people type when they look for someone like you. Use the title they'd search for, not an internal one.

    “Head of Sales”

  2. 02

    Who you help, and how

Who you help and the result you bring. It tells a stranger in one line why to click.

“Helping B2B SaaS founders close bigger deals”

  3. 03

    One proof

One fact that backs it up: a known past company, a number, a certification. One is enough.

    “Ex-Salesforce”

  4. 04

    A few keywords

Two or three skills or tools, as people write them. Leave the rest for your About section.

“Outbound · Sales hiring · HubSpot”

The limit: LinkedIn doesn't publish one for headlines. Guides widely report 220 characters, and your profile editor's counter shows yours. For the About section below it, use the LinkedIn summary generator. Every other limit is in LinkedIn character limits.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

How long can a LinkedIn headline be?
LinkedIn doesn't publish the limit. Guides widely report 220 characters, and the counter in LinkedIn's profile editor shows the real one for your account. The tool counts against 220 and says so.
Does this headline generator use AI?
No. It fills six plain headline formulas with your own words, in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Lempile or anywhere else.
What should a LinkedIn headline include?
Your role as people would search for it, who you help and the result you bring, one proof, and two or three keywords. Lead with the role or the result rather than an adjective like passionate or experienced.
How do I use it?
Fill in your job title and one or two more fields. Each formula appears as soon as it has what it needs, with its character count. Copy the one you like and paste it into your profile's headline.
Can it check the headline I already have?
Yes: paste it in “Check the headline you have”. The tool counts its characters against the reported limit, and flags a headline that's very short or opens with an adjective.
