Your profile

Profile photo and cover image.

The profile photo must be at least 400 × 400 pixels and at most 7680 × 4320, a PNG or a JPG up to 8 MB; LinkedIn doesn't take GIFs here. It shows as a circle, so keep your face in the middle. The resizer dims the corners LinkedIn hides.

The cover image, often called the banner, is 1584 × 396: a 4:1 strip behind your profile photo. LinkedIn notes that how it appears changes with the size of the browser window and the screen, so keep text and faces away from the edges. If it looks blurry, LinkedIn suggests a larger file, and photos rather than images with logos.

Posts and links

Images in posts.

A photo in a post must be at least 552 × 276 pixels, and LinkedIn recommends 1080 pixels wide. Its ratio can go from 3:1 (wide) to 4:5 (tall); a wider image is centered and cropped. The upload limit is 5 MB, and a post holds up to 20 photos. In a post with several, the first image sets the layout.

A post carries either images or a link, not both. For a link, LinkedIn builds the card from the page's own tags, and its image should be at least 1200 × 627, a 1.91:1 ratio. Check a page's card with the LinkedIn link preview checker.

Articles, Pages, groups, events

Everything else.

Articles and newsletters. A cover is best at 1920 × 1080 and is cropped to 16:9; JPEG, PNG and WEBP work, GIFs no longer do. A newsletter's logo is 300 × 300.

Company Pages. The logo is 400 × 400 (at least 268 × 268) and the cover 1512 × 256, as PNG or JPEG up to 3 MB. LinkedIn may trim the cover on some screens and asks you to keep key details away from its edges, especially the lower-right corner. A transparent logo shows on a white background.

Groups and events. A group cover is 1776 × 444. An event cover must be 16:9 and at least 480 pixels wide: 1280 × 720 or 480 × 270 both work.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What size is the LinkedIn banner?
1584 × 396 pixels, as a JPG or PNG under 8 MB, according to LinkedIn's Help Center, which calls it the cover image. A Company Page cover is a different size: 1512 × 256.
What is the best image size for a LinkedIn post?
LinkedIn recommends 1080 pixels wide, at least 552 × 276, and a ratio between 3:1 and 4:5; a wider image is centered and cropped. 1080 × 1080 is square, and 1080 × 1350 (4:5) is the tallest LinkedIn shows. The limit is 5 MB.
What size should a LinkedIn profile picture be?
At least 400 × 400 pixels and at most 7680 × 4320, as a PNG or JPG up to 8 MB. LinkedIn doesn't accept GIFs for it, and shows the photo as a circle.
Why does my LinkedIn image look blurry?
LinkedIn's Help Center suggests a larger file, notes that photos look better than images with logos, and that small, low-resolution photos may show in low quality. The resizer warns you when it has to enlarge your image to reach LinkedIn's size.
How do I fit my whole picture on LinkedIn?
Choose “Show it all” in the resizer: the whole image goes inside LinkedIn's frame, with bands of a color you pick on the sides. “Crop to fill” fills the frame and lets you drag the image to choose what stays.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is resized by your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to Lempile or anywhere else.
