LinkedIn link preview checker

Paste a page's address to see the link card LinkedIn will likely show, whether it has the four tags LinkedIn requires, and whether its image is big enough.

We read the page once, as Lempile, and keep nothing.

LinkedIn's rules

Four tags and one good image.

LinkedIn builds a link's card from the page's Open Graph tags. Its Help Center lists four that must exist:

TagWhat it's forIn the page's <head>
og:titleThe card's headline<meta property="og:title" content="…">
og:imageThe card's picture, a full address<meta property="og:image" content="https://…">
og:descriptionA short summary of the page<meta property="og:description" content="…">
og:urlThe page's own address<meta property="og:url" content="https://…">

For the image: at least 1200 × 627 pixels, a 1.91:1 ratio and 5 MB at most. Under 401 pixels wide, LinkedIn shows it as a thumbnail beside the title instead of across the card. If the image meets the rules but still doesn't show, the site may be blocking LinkedIn, or the image may sit behind a login. Every other size, from the profile cover to posts, is in LinkedIn image sizes.

Post Inspector

Check here, refresh in LinkedIn's Post Inspector.

LinkedIn keeps what it found the last time it read a page, so a fixed page can keep its old card for a while. LinkedIn's own Post Inspector shows what LinkedIn has stored, when it last read the page, and lets you request a re-scrape.

This checker does the other half: it reads your page as it is now, so you can fix the tags and the image without sharing a test post or signing in. When everything is green here, refresh the page in Post Inspector once.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Why does LinkedIn still show the old preview?
LinkedIn keeps its own copy of each page's preview. After you fix the tags, open LinkedIn's Post Inspector, paste the address and request a re-scrape: LinkedIn then reads the page again.
What size should the LinkedIn preview image be?
LinkedIn's Help Center asks for at least 1200 × 627 pixels, a 1.91:1 ratio and 5 MB at most. An image under 401 pixels wide shows as a small thumbnail instead of a full-width picture.
Why doesn't my image show up?
The image's address may not be public, or the site may block LinkedIn from fetching it. LinkedIn's Help Center names both. This checker loads the image in your browser, so it tells you when even that fails.
How is this different from LinkedIn's Post Inspector?
Post Inspector is LinkedIn's own tool: it shows what LinkedIn has stored for a page and can re-read it. This checker shows what your page declares right now, and checks it against LinkedIn's published rules, without a LinkedIn account. Use it while you fix the tags, then refresh LinkedIn's copy in Post Inspector.
What happens to the address I check?
We fetch the page once, from Lempile's server and as Lempile, and read only its preview tags. We don't keep the address or the page. Only public websites can be checked, and each visitor can run a limited number of checks a minute.
